I bought the 2 camera method and this camera is Super! Yes you have to run a wire to power it (Duh!). But the signal is sent via two.4ghz. RF (the wireless part). You can mount the small DVR anyplace that you can get reception. I have mine down in the Den next to my recliner, but, you can move it simply if you will need to monitor from, say, the kitchen. The two way "intercom" is good to have!
If you need to have power outage protection, you will want to install a ups power outlet for every camera (use 1 for a pc and hook the camera provide into the outlet from the ups)
I set up the method and installed 2 cameras in an afternoon with out any tension. It did take a little planning, but, it was honestly straightforward.
It is a lot more affordable than the multi thousand dollar systems. And the pictures (even immediately after dark) are spectacular!
I have this up and operating for one particular month and it is superb...the image excellent is good, sound top quality excellent, and night vision is good, I would acquire this again..A+
